The RDP Electronics E308 a.c. powered digital indicator/conditioner unit can be used with the RDP Electronics series of capacitive transducers amongst others.
The E308 panel meter has two modes, voltage mode and millivolt mode.
In voltage mode, the E308 digital display unit provides signal conditioning for a wide range of internally amplified and high output transducers. The signal conditioning unit can provide excitation for many units as well as signal conditioning for the return signals.
In millivolt mode, the E308 Digital Indicator/Conditioner is a strain gauge amplifier. In addition to being a strain gauge amplifier, it also provides precision excitation for the strain gauge transducer. Shunt calibration is available using the front panel shunt calibration switch. This means that suitable transducers having a shunt calibration figure on their calibration certificate may be calibrated with the strain gauge amplifier unit without the need to apply load / pressure etc.
Although it has a digital display the unit actually has analogue electronics which means that it has a very high analogue bandwidth and a high speed limit trip facility. The use of analogue electronics also ensures that the unit can be easily configured using screw driver potentiometers. The E308 can be used in a panel, on a bench or in an optional portable instrument
The E308 indicator/conditioner has two outputs; voltage and 4-20mA. Both voltage and 4-20mA outputs are available in parallel but only one may be calibrated.
