GTX Gauging LVDT Displacement Transducer

Standard series GTX LVDT displacement transducer
GTX Image

The RDP Electronics GTX series gauging transducer employs the LVDT displacement principle which means that they are very robust as well as being very accurate. They are designed to provide high precision measurement in industrial environments. All external metal components are stainless steel and low friction linear bearings are employed to ensure sub-micron repeatability. The bearings of the gauge head are protected by a flexible gaiter. The armature (the part of the position sensor that moves) is pushed by the internal spring into the outward end-stop position. The units are available in both full bridge and half bridge (D) types to assist in compatibility with existing systems. Applications for these units include laboratory measurement and the gauging of precision machined parts.

Options available for the GTX series include plugs fitted, longer cables, matched sensitivity and PTFE cable.

GTX/RA series LVDT transducer with right angled cable output. All other dimensions and specifications as standard series.
GXS with RA option
The GTX/RA series LVDT transducer provide a right angled cable option for the gauge head. This is mainly appropriate in measurement applications where space is limited and the length of the gauging transducer becomes an issue. Although the body length is slightly larger than that of the standard GTX, once a cable bend is considered, the GTX/RA is actually shorter.

GTX/P series gauging transducer with air push option. Specification as standard series.
GTX with Air Push

The GTX/P is an air push version of the standard GTX gauge head. The rest position of the GTX/P is at inward full scale. When a suitable air supply is applied, the armature of the LVDT transducer moves outward to its end stop, unless something stops it (such as the item being measured). Due to the fact that some air escapes through the front bearing of the lvdt displacement transducer, the air must be filtered (better than 0.5 micro metres), and dry (<60% RH, non condensing). During operation the rubber bellows fitted to the armature end of the position sensor will expand to 9.5 mm (approx) diameter, sufficient clearance should be allowed for this.

Note that the armature will rest at the inward mechanical stop position.
